Technology Today's network-centric battlefield requires that real-time communications be delivered to the edge of the force structure. (MRTI) provides ground-based targeting and situational awareness and increases force protection capability for FOBs. As part of RDISS (Rapid Deployment Integrated Surveillance System) and BETSS-C (Base Expeditionary Targeting and Surveillance Systems- Combined) programs, the MRTI is a key capability in keeping our fighters safe. Figure 7: MRTI installed on rapid-install mast Conclusion Figure 6: MRTI component in RDISS/BETSS-C RDISS is a fixed surveillance system that can be quickly installed with minimal training and provides the warfighter with situational awareness in those activities immediately outside protective barriers. The pan/tilt devices used in the RDISS/BETSS-C system provide automated and manual pointing of camera systems, controlled through the TerraSight Standard Ground Station (SGS) command console. The pan/tilt systems in BETSS-C offer lightweight (portability), real-time control, Ethernet integration, and reliability. The ability to survive harsh conditions, withstand frequent moves, and provide 24/7 operation was critical.
